Junior Specialist Positions(Junior specialist • Dermatology • Animal Wound Healing)

Description: The Department of Dermatology at the University of California, Davis (Sacramento/Davis) is seeking two full-time Junior Specialists. The successful candidates will work with a multi-specialty and multi-institutional wound group studying how mesenchymal stem cells can be combined into engineered tissues and used to improve wound healing.

Requirements: Candidates must possess a B.S. degree in cell biology or biological sciences. Preferred experience and background in wound healing, tissue engineering, and tissue regeneration. Outstanding language (English) communication skills, both oral and written, are required.

Job 1. Animal Model: The successful candidate will perform testing of tissue engineered constructs in animal wound models (mouse and mini-pig). Preferred experience and background in wound healing, tissue engineering and tissue regeneration. Must possess the following skills/abilities: animal handling, surgery, and experimentation.

Job 2. Histology: The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of histological analysis of tissues for degree of healing. Preferred experience and background in would healing, tissue embedding, sectioning, staining, and immunohistologic techniques. Experience and familiarity with computerized image analysis programs is essential.

These positions are funded for two years, with the possibility of being extended an additional year. Location primarily at the UC Davis campus, but some travel to the UCDMC Sacramento campus is required (as is a valid driver’s license). Positions will remain open until filled.
