Summary

Primary Giant Cell Tumor of Soft Tissue Mimicking a Vascular Neoplasm

Ergun SS, Buyukbabani N, Atilganoglu U

Dermatologic Surgery 2007

A GCTST on the medial side of the left arm of a 9-year old boy. GCTST showing intratumoral hemorrhage should be included in the differential diagnosis for rapidly growing vascular lesions.

Unusual Aggressive Course of a Giant Cell Tumor of Soft Tissue During Immunosuppressive Therapy

Grabellus F, von Winterfeld F, Sheu SY, Metz KA, Jahnke K, Schmid KW

Virchows Archiv 2006

A GCTST of low malignant potential, which developed under long-term immunosuppression in a patient 12 years after heart transplantation.  The tumor presented with an unusual aggressive course and metastatic site: the parotid gland.

Giant Cell Tumor of Soft Tissue with Pulmonary Metastases: Pathologic and Cytogenetic Study

Guo H, Garcia RA, Perle MA, Amodio J, Greco MA

Pediatric and Developmental Pathology 2005

A 12-year old girl with GCTST of the right leg that metastasized to the lung. Cytogenetic studies from the primary tumor showed the phenomenon of telomeric association involving multiple chromosomes, a finding that has never been reported in GCTST.

Giant Cell Tumor of the Skin: A Morphologic and Immunohistochemical Study of Five Cases

Hoang MP, Rogers BB, Albores-Saavedra J

Annals of Diagnostic Pathology 2002

A report of the clinical, morphologic, and immunohistochemical features of five cases of giant cell tumor of the skin. A fascicular pattern with focal storiform arrangement of spindle neoplastic cells was noted in two cases. One patient developed lung metastases at presentation and local recurrence four months status post surgery.

Primary Giant Cell Tumor of Soft Tissue

Holst VA, Elenitsas R

Journal of Cutaneous Pathology 2001

A case report of a GCTST located primarily within the dermis with an original diagnostic impression of an epidermal inclusion cyst. Histologic sections showed a non-encapsulated neoplasm composed of large nodules of cells. Foci of hemorrhage and foamy macrophages were scattered throughout the lesion as well as areas resembling aneurismal bone cysts.

Primary Giant Cell Tumor of Soft Parts- Report of a Case with Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology and Histology Findings

Mardi K, Sharma J

Journal of Cytology 2007

A report of the cytological and histopathological features of a case of GCTST in a 30-year-old male.  Fine needle aspiration cytology can be used as a diagnostic tool for an early and accurate detection of giant cell rich lesions.

Giant Cell Tumor of Soft Tissue Arising in Breast

May SA, Deavers MT, Resetkova E, Johnson D, Albarracin CT

Annals of Diagnostic Pathology 2007

A report of a 60-year old woman with a GCTST in the breast that was surgically removed, however the patient expired with pulmonary metastases within a year.

Giant Cell Tumors of Soft Tissue A Clinicopathologic Study of 18 Benign and Malignant Tumors

O'Connell JX, Wehrli BM, Nielsen GP, Rosenberg AE

American Journal of Surgical Pathology 2000

A report of a group of 18 primary GCTST that outlines the salient pathologic features, proposes criteria to separate benign and malignant variants, and discusses the differential diagnosis. There were no instances of local recurrence or metastases among the reported benign tumors.

Primary Giant Cell Tumor of Soft Tissues

Oliveira AM, Dei Tos AP, Fletcher CDM, Nascimento AG

American Journal of Surgical Pathology 2000

Twenty-two cases of GCTST were analyzed clinicopathologically. GCTST affects adults of both sexes, is frequently superficial, and most often involves the lower extremities and trunk. If treated adequately by complete excision, it is expected to have a benign clinical course. The recurrence rate of a benign GCTST is 6.2%, which is lower than the giant cell tumor of bone.

Primary Giant Cell Tumor of Soft Tissues Similar to Bone Giant Cell Tumor: A Case Report and Literature Review

Rodriguez-Peralto JL, Lopez-Barea F, Fernandez-Delgado J

Pathology International 2001

A case report of a primary GCTST located in the left dorsal wrist of a 52-year-old man.
