XEROSTOMIA

I've got quite a few "dry mouth" patients using pilocarpine 1% ophthalmic
solution (15 ml bottle) 1-2 drops under the tongue tid prn to increase saliva
flow. Apart from occasional runny nose if they use too much this has been
well tolerated and they are pleased. Improved saliva flow reduces the
long-term risk of dental caries, which is a major problem in the "dry mouth"
population.
