From: KSmithDerm@aol.com I've treated several adultsw and kids who had erythema multiforme or Stevens-Johnson with Cy-A - never failed yet - wonder drug - patients usually improve greatly in a couple of days, and are able to stay out of the burn unit. Haven't even admitted anyone to hospital yet, with without Cy-A there are a couple who I'd have shipped off to the tertiary care center as soon as I walked in the room. Start at 5-10 mg/kg for a few days, then taper to whatever is the minimum needed to do the job. One patient with chronic EM adjusts her own dose of Cy-A between 100 and 300 mg/d depending on how things are going. This allows us to keep the cumulative long term dose as low as possible while getting good results. Also have one lady with gross paraneoplastic pemphigus secondary to colorectal ca who settled right down with Cy-A and is doing fine. Wouldn't have tried it on my own, but Charlie Perniciaro from Mayo Clinic Jacksonville reported a case of paraneoplastic pemphigus that did well on Cy-A [my patient blesses you Charlie!].
