BULOUS PEMPHIGOID ----------------------------------------------------- An 80 year old patient of mine started to have a widespread bullous eruption (histologically and clinically consistent with bullous pemphigoid), one week after split thickness skin graft (STSG) for leg ulcer. Anyone know of such association having been reported in the past ? Is this a coincidence or may one postulate that the STSG may have triggered an autoimmune response against basement membrane (BM) antigens ? Strictly speaking, STSG cuts through the dermis and the BM zone should have reminaed intact. Ken Ho ------ Had a patient like this 15 years ago. Had a burn, then a graft. There were several similar case reports at that time. Diane Thaler -------------
