In Mexico we have a very useful topical medication against 
onychomycosis.  Its name is "Loceryl" by Roche Lab. (Amorolfine).  The 
patient needs to use it for a year (once a week). It works.

Answer:

Theoretically you need a prescription, but in Mexico you can get almost
all the common drugs without it.
