GRANULAR CELL TUMORS --------------------------------------------------- I have a patient with multiple (10) granular cell tumour on his trunk and limbs. Textbooks suggest around 1-3 % of granular cell tumour are malignant. Should they all be excised (as the risks of malignancy may multiply) ? Ken Ho ------ Don't remove them. We have all seen many granular cell tumors and clearly 1-3% of them do not become malignant. Please note that granular cell tumors, particularly of the tongue, may show pseudocarcinomatous epidermal hyperplasia in the overlying epidermis that may be misinterpreted as SCC.
