DYSHIDROSIS ----------------------------------------- Fisher's Contact Dermatitis - 4th ed has a nice list for lowering nickel ingestion. Mark Crowe, MD -------------------- Many great ideas for hand care. Two more that I like: 1. I warn patients about soaps... but had not thought to warn them about shampoo until a patient taught me that it was a problem for the hands. For pts with bad hand dermatitis I now add that they should not shampoo without vinyl gloves. Shampoo is designed to remove excess hair oil... 2. I wash my hands many times a day and, particularly in the winter, I get severely dry hands. For therapy I wash my hands, shake off the excess water, squirt a moisturizer on my wet hands, rub it in for a few seconds, and then use a towel to wipe off the excess. Quick, effective and does not leave a greasy residue. If I do this 5 or 10 times a day I find I can turn my hands around in a few days. Mark Crowe, MD -------------------- I believe the Archives of Dermatology in the early seventies had a detailed diet. I have never found anyone able to follow it strictly. gary salenger -------------------- Trey, could you educate some of us about "masking fragrances". Can patients who test positive to fragrance safely use/not use products with a mask? Diane Thaler --------------------
