CUTIS MARMORATA CONGENITA TELANGIECTATICA ------------------------------------------------- I need advice regarding a seven mo old girl brought in to eval an area of cutis marmorata on R knee and lower leg. Present at birth, lesion fills and empties with changes in appearance from dark blue, to red, to white (disappears). No palpable lesion or obvious atrophy. Child has a 2 cm strawberry hemangioma on R chest. No other abn of limbs or skin. Seems well developed. Is this CMTC? If yes, what if any areas to evaluate for associated congenital abnormalities? Jerry Eisner ------------ I discussed your case with Dr. Tersita Laude, our pediatric dermatologist at SUNYHSCB. To quote her,"Sounds like a mild case of cutis marmorata congenita telangiectatica, which occurs mostly in girls (95% of the time). Watch out for ulcerations and discrepancy in limb growth. If the general physical examination is normal, then it's an isolated anomaly." Yelva Lynfield, MD ------------------ ------- 5.01.96
