CAROTENE

The mother of one of my patients who has EPP informs me that Solatene is no
longer available from Roche.  She was told that the medication was going to
be released OTC.  Does anyone have any further information regarding this
situation?

I think Beta carotene is available OTC as 15mg cap

Just yesterday I received mail from Hoffman-LaRoche explaining that Solatene
was no longer available and that "dry beta carotene beadlets", made by
Hoffman-LaRoche would be distributed by Tishcon as Lumitene.  This letter
was accompanied by  a pamphlet from the American Porphyria foundation about
EPP, which said essentially the same thing.
